Answers about ecording, our technologies, forest projects and ways for businesses to work with us.
ecording
What is ecording?
ecording is a social enterprise developing technologies that support forest restoration.
What does ecording aim to achieve?
Founded in 2017, ecording aims to scale nature projects through technology and partnerships to help address the climate crisis.
Is ecording a company or an association?
ecording is a social enterprise operating as a limited company.
What does ecording work on?
We develop forest projects, field operations and digital tracking tools. Through ecoNow, we also support sustainable everyday habits.
ecoDrone Technology
What is ecoDrone?
ecoDrone is an intelligent unmanned aerial vehicle technology that supports forest restoration by sowing seeds in hard-to-reach areas.
Where is ecoDrone developed?
ecoDrone is developed in Türkiye by ecording engineers.
What is Nature Intelligence?
Nature Intelligence uses AI-assisted analysis of field data and imagery to support our team's restoration planning and monitoring decisions.
Ecosystem Restoration
Where is ecoDrone used?
We work on fire-affected land, erosion-prone areas and sensitive sites where ground-based operations are difficult. Suitability for aerial seeding is assessed for each site.
Which seeds are used?
Seeds are selected for the site's climate and ecosystem, with attention to local provenance. Plans bring together suitable tree, shrub and other plant species.
Are all seeds coated?
No. Coating depends on the species and site. Seeds may be coated with clay and other materials or sown without coating.
Why are seeds coated?
For suitable species, coating aims to protect seeds from environmental conditions and animal damage and create a suitable germination environment. Preparation depends on the species and site.
Who prepares the seeds?
We work with women in rural communities to prepare seeds and coat suitable species.
What is the field success rate?
Our average field success rate is 59%; it varies by site and monitoring period. It is a different measure from seed germination test results.
How is field progress assessed?
We assess germination and survival in reference plots and combine field observations with aerial imagery. Findings support subsequent fieldwork and monitoring decisions.
Are sites monitored after sowing?
Yes. We monitor sites and document their progress. Monitoring periods vary with the species, region and site conditions.
Do you measure the impact of your work?
We conduct observations and measurements on afforestation, biodiversity and restoration with the General Directorate of Forestry and academic partners, and prepare technical reports.
How do you support biodiversity?
We consider suitable tree, shrub and other plant species together. Species selection and implementation plans aim to support the recovery of the local ecosystem.
How does seed sowing contribute to carbon storage?
Plants developing from seeds absorb carbon through photosynthesis as they grow and store it in their biomass.
How are project sites selected?
In Türkiye, we work with the General Directorate of Forestry and academic partners on site selection and planning. Species and methods are chosen for the site's conditions and restoration needs.
